Sewer Systems

The E/One Sewer system is a pressure sewer system that is powered by E/One grinder pumps. A pressure sewer system uses small-diameter pipes and grinder pumps, which are often installed at each home. The grinder pump station collects all of the wastewater from the home and grinds it into slurry. The wastewater is then pumped to a larger sewer main or directly to a wastewater treatment plant.

What is the Difference between a Gravity Sewer System and a Pressure Sewer System?

While gravity sewer systems often use large mains that are installed in deep trenches, pressure sewer pipes may be as small as 2 inches in diameter and follow the contour of the land. These small trenches can equal huge savings.

Pressure sewer systems are used in areas where a conventional gravity sewer system cannot be installed, or is too expensive to do so. The land may be very flat, rocky, hilly, or wet.

About E/One Grinder Pumps

E/One developed the concept of the household grinder pump starting in 1968. Today, celebrating half a century of leadership, the E/One Extreme series grinder pump is more reliable and rugged than ever before.


E/One’s low speed, high torque, 133 mm wheel has an inlet velocity of 1.09 m./sec, which slowly introduces the debris into the cutter and is less likely to jam, bind, or suffocate.

The paddles on E/One’s cutter wheel stir the waste water, which helps keep the tank clean and prevents sediment build up.

E/One’s grinder does not require sharpness to function properly and is a true macerator as opposed to a slicer. Slicers do not function properly once blade edges are dulled.


Small 63.5 mm diameter cutter wheels have a much higher inlet velocity of 6.94 mm./sec, which leads to more jamming, binding, and suffocating.

Higher velocity wheels wear faster and produce less stirring, leading to more retained sediment in the tank.
